Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and we are the team making it happen.

This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

The Opportunity

As a Business Analyst, you will play a key role in the modernization of our distribution processes. Your responsibilities will include needs analysis, requirements documentation, and mapping data and workflow processes. Your expertise will guide internal teams and facilitate the implementation of innovative solutions. By closely collaborating with various stakeholders, you will help improve our operational efficiency. This position offers stimulating challenges and professional development opportunities in a dynamic environment. You will participate in a cross-departmental project impacting the entire organization, finding creative solutions to meet end-user needs.

In collaboration with other team members, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Propose, lead, and conduct meetings or workshops with end users, project members, or the vendor to determine needs.

  • Liaise between end users, stakeholders, and various internal departments.

  • Assist partners in clarifying their vision.

  • Identify improvement opportunities, gaps, and optimizations in workflows, and document options clearly and consistently.

  • Participate in data mapping and migration.

  • Actively participate in several scrum teams to deliver solutions iteratively and progressively.

  • Contribute to creating and maintaining various test/validation scripts based on clients’ business processes, and perform application tests to ensure compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada requirements.

  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) sessions, guiding them to validate the application’s functionality.

  • Ensure non-compliance cases (bugs or gaps) are communicated to the vendor through the issue tracking system (e.g., Jira).

  • Configure the system to meet end-user needs.

You will also coordinate team activities and regularly inform the manager of risks and issues encountered. You must be detail-oriented and take the time to understand needs or problems thoroughly. Strong communication skills are essential in your interactions with different stakeholders, using technical terms with IT team members and common language with business partners.

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or College Diploma or equivalent

  • Five (5) years of experience in business process analysis positions

  • Certification: Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) or Professional Business Analyst (PMI-PBA), an asset

  • Proven knowledge of requirements collection, documentation and analysis methodologies

  • Knowledge of the Canadian Scheduling & Broadcasting industry, an asset

  • Understanding of media contracting, rights management and reporting consideration, an asset

  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and customer satisfaction skills

  • Ability to lead multiple initiatives

  • Strong analytical skills and open-mindedness to find solutions. Demonstrated creativity in developing technical solutions in response to clients’ and projects’ needs

  • Excellent capacity to manage stress and priorities

  • Flexible, proactive and dynamic

  • Ability to conduct discussions with an end-user group and/or the supplier

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment with multiple different teams while embracing change and new processes

  • Ability to travel across Canada

  • Bilingualism (French and English), spoken and written

Please note that due to the nature of the project and responsibilities of this role, all candidates will be required to work in a multilingual environment, where work will be conducted in both official languages (English and French). Therefore, employees working in this role will be expected to make the necessary efforts and adjustments to navigate this multilingual environment in a manner that is respectful of all.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
