About the role
This role requires certification as an MTA (Music Therapist Accredited) with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists.
Private Music Instructors teach third- and fourth-year music therapy students guitar lessons in individual 30- or 60-minute lessons weekly for 10 weeks, attend faculty meetings, and assist with end-of-semester juries.
Experience, competencies & qualifications
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy;
- MTA – Accreditation with the Canadian Association of Music Therapists;
- A minimum of 5 years clinical working experience in music therapy (post-internship);
- Excellent guitar repertoire and musicianship;
- Excellent self-awareness skills due to the transference nature of the students in an individual lesson format; and
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills.
Preferences:
- Music Therapy experience with a variety of populations; and
- Strong piano and voice musicianship.
