The Wellington Health Care Alliance (WHCA) is currently accepting applications for a full-time Professional Practice Leader- Clinical Educator. The homesite for this position will be Groves Memorial Community Hospital.

The Professional Practice Leader, Clinical Educator is accountable for advancing clinical and professional practice and performance within Groves Memorial Hospital In Patient / Outpatient units, through consultation, education, collaboration, coaching & mentoring. The Professional Practice Leader, Clinical Educator will also work on and lead numerous projects and initiatives to support care and service delivery, best practice, including Accreditation readiness, and will support our ongoing use, adoption and implementation of clinical technologies. 

We are: 

  • Three rural Hospitals + one integrated management team = Wellington Health Care Alliance 
  • Located in Wellington County where staff have the luxury of choosing to live in either a rural or urban setting 

We have: 

  • One full-time Professional Practice Leader, Clinical Educator position available to support In patient Medicine, Obstetrics, and surgical programs. The position will work closely with Clinical Mentors in the Emergency Department.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the management and development of Nursing Education and Professional Practice activities including staff support, mentoring, coaching, and education
  • Be responsible to facilitate committees, task forces, and ensure an annual work plan is developed with key deliverables that are patient centered, related to the strategic plan, and in collaboration with Patient Care Managers
  • Be responsible for leadership, the implementation of best practice, and the promotion of collaboration and effective communication
  • Participate in the development of nursing practice and professionalism including Skills Fairs and ongoing education
  • Support the development of the key deliverables of the strategic management plan, safety, quality & performance improvement initiatives, and quality framework to build a sustainable system to ensure excellence in patient care
  • Be responsible to support Accreditation readiness regarding required organization practices and standards.
  • Demonstrate leadership in emergency preparedness planning
  • Champion the mission, vision and values while promoting staff and patient safety, patient experience, and engagement 
  • Participate in regional and local committees as required to promote, advocate for and represent the Alliance 
  • Other duties as assigned

You would stand out if you:

  • Are a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses
  • Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Health Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Have several years of progressive leadership experience in a hospital setting and/or health care industry
  • Have evidence of lifelong learning and professional development, with a passion for driving and supporting others to achieve
  • Have a comprehensive working knowledge of standards of care, professional standards, best practice, evidence-informed decision making, legislative requirements, risk management, and quality improvement tools, etc.
  • Have demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Have demonstrated project management, change management, and conflict management skills
  • Possess excellent critical thinking, decision making knowledge and skills, program design, development and LEAN principles
  • Demonstrate ethical practice
  • Have strong computer/technology skills
  • Have the ability to work independently, meet timelines, work within and lead a team, and posses strong organizational skills
  • Have the ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Are creative, innovative, and flexible
  • Possess a valid Ontario Driver’s license and reliable transportation

Additional Qualifications:

  • Satisfactory performance and attendance required
  • Satisfactory Reference Checks required prior to start date
  • Must provide a Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Must complete a Pre-Employment Health Assessment including providing proof of full COVID vaccination prior to being hired

Hours of Work: 

  • 37.5 hours per week 
  • The majority of the work will be completed during normal business hours Monday to Friday. Occasionally attendance at meetings/hospital events during non-traditional hours (early morning, evenings and weekends) is required. 

This position requires travel amongst the three hospital sites and therefore a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.
