Department of Psychology (Professor Signy Sheldon)

Position Summary:

  • Responsible for planning and implementing a new study that involves programming a conversational user interface (CUI) to deliver different types of conversational prompts to younger and older adults.
  • Use machine learning tools to help design the CUI in accord with the study   principles.
  • Execute experiments testing older and younger adult participants with the CUI, estimating user acceptance and memory via vocal descriptions and ratings.
  • Responsible for recruiting and testing participants.
  • Conduct natural language processing analyses on vocal ratings to determine outcome of the experiment, focusing on age related differences.
  • Responsible for compilation and organization of the resulting data, preparation of summary sheets and presentations for collaborators on the project and to associated groups. 

Qualifications:

  • Experience with conducting experiments in a cognitive laboratory; experience organizing data and working with a research supervisor;
  • Skills with data organization and analytic software
  • Experience and education: Undergraduate degree in psychology,
  • Experience working in a cognitive laboratory (> 6 months) and
  • Knowledge of machine learning as well as natural language processing analytic tools.

$28.50
