        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

  • The Kettle Campaign Coordinator helps ensure the smooth running of the Kettle Campaign in order to maximize donations through the coordination of the schedules of the Kettle volunteers. We are looking for a highly organized person with strong interpersonal skills who is willing to adhere to the mission and values of The Salvation Army and will represent The Salvation Army in a positive, professional manner.
  • The Kettle Campaign Coordinator is a Temporary Seasonal, Full-Time position. Period covered: Mid-October to December 28th, beginning with 16 hours per week, and moving to 40 hours per week as per operational requirements. Flexibility with work hours/schedule is expected.
  • Work will require work on weekends and evenings.
  • Kettle Campaign’s normal hours of operation are 10:00 am to 9:00 pm – Monday to Saturday

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible as a group work leader, provides direction and checks results.
  • Represent and promote The Salvation Army to the community and businesses in a positive and professional manner.
  • Coordinate, schedule and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers and responds to emergency absences, etc.
  • Promote, coordinate and oversee the activities of Christmas Kettle Campaign volunteers/workers.
  • Oversee the operation of the Christmas Kettle Campaign’s including and not limited to, scheduling of volunteers/workers, reports, counting as needed.
  • Recruit, train, direct and work alongside volunteers ensuring all shifts are covered for the campaign.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with kettle sites
  • Deliver and pick up kettles to/from sites along with staff/volunteers, ensuring the security of donations.
  • Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly timesheets as required.
  • Post campaign; retrieve all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations. Write a report detailing areas for improvement, what worked well, and update contacts of all volunteers/organizations.
  • Take care of all relevant responsibilities as they pertain to the Tip-Tap machines, where available
  • Perform other position-related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Completed High School or equivalent
  • Valid BC Class “5” Driver’s license, have own vehicle and insurance, a copy of current driver’s abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
  • Provide an original copy of a Criminal Background Check screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, at its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

Experience:

  • Prior related experience would be a definite asset
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced setting
  • Experience with general office equipment and Microsoft Office applications

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must have excellent organizational skills
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must understand and support the mission and core values of The Salvation Army
