        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Position Purpose Summary:

We are seeking an energetic, outgoing, and highly motivated community member to lead the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign in Moose Jaw. The Kettle Coordinator ensures the smooth running of the Kettle Campaign, maximizing donations and coordinating volunteers. A Kettle Coordinator recruits, trains, schedules, and monitors the work of volunteers ensuring ample staff to meet location needs.

This is a temporary fixed term position at 25 – 30 hours per week.

Term Dates: October 18 – December 23, 2021.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit, train, direct and work alongside volunteers
  • Create a schedule and schedule volunteers on the kettle program (computerized), ensuring all kettle locations are covered daily and in a timely manner
  • Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
  • Expected to work in cooperation with the Moose Jaw Ministry unit staff and Divisional Public Relations Department
  • Keep accurate confidential records of volunteer information
  • Ensure all kettle locations are kept well-stocked with supplies (i.e. Literature, etc.)
  • Contact churches, businesses, and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles etc.
  • Coordinate and Assist with the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of daily monies
  • Work flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Some involvement in counting and depositing of kettle monies
  • Represent The Salvation Army in a positive manner
  • Post Campaign:
  • Retrieve all equipment / supplies from various locations at conclusion of campaign.
  • Debrief current campaign.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education Level Attained:

  • Completed High School
  • Note: An alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable.

Special Licenses, Diplomas, Certifications or Requirements:

  • Valid Saskatchewan Driver’s license with own vehicle preferred
  • Criminal Police Clearance Check
  • Provide proof for full Covid’ 19 vaccinations

Minimum Prior Related Experience:

  • More than three months but less than one year of prior related experience.
  • Experience in office administration
  • Experience with Microsoft excel, Microsoft Word
  • Experience with general office equipment and a proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Physical Effort/Dexterity Required:

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment of light to moderate weight

Concentration Required:

  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced office setting

Responsibility for Financial Resources:

  • Manages any donations and their safe transport to unit

Responsibility for Human Resources:

  • Initial and primary point-of-contact for all kettle volunteers
  • Responsible for tracking hours and schedules for kettle volunteers

Work Environment:

  • Working environment is partially in the office in generally agreeable conditions
  • Frequent travel within city in winter conditions will be required
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment of light to moderate weight in winter conditions will be required
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends
  • Works on-call and carries a cell phone
