EECD recognizes the importance of a child’s first five years and outlines the steps government and its partners are taking to enhance the quality, accessibility, and affordability of early learning and child care in New Brunswick. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development is currently seeking the services of a Learning Specialist to support Inclusive Education across the Continuum of Learning for Anglophone Educational Services Division in Fredericton.

What you will do

The successful candidate will support the development, progress monitoring and evaluation of Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs). In addition, this individual will require the knowledge and experience in program and platform evaluation (quality assurance). Collaborate with Policy and Planning to support home schooling portfolio. Manage and lead the pedagogical focus of ESS Connect, a student file-management system to record, monitor, collaborate, report, and communicate about student support services. More specifically:

Creating and updating documentation, processes, and requests for change for ESS Connect;

Understanding the needs of school-based staff, districts, and the department in terms of documents (PLPs and forms), and data (reports); and

Working with districts to unify processes for provincial consistency.

The successful candidate will also liaise with Early Childhood Development and other branches to help support continuum of learning and transitions across the continuum for students with diverse learning needs.

Work environment

Office location: 250 King Street, Fredericton;

Remote work is a possibility;

Standard hours of work: Monday – Friday, 8:15-4:30; and

Who you are

You would work as a part of an Education Support Services team that encompasses 15 individuals. The team values Universal Design for Learning, Response to Intervention, and Policy 322: Inclusive Education.

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have:
A Masters of Education in Methods and Resource or Exceptionalities and experience with ESS Connect or related field;

A minimum of six (6) years’ experience working in the public school system; and

Demonstrate knowledge of research and evidence-based practice in the aforementioned areas of responsibility, as well as demonstrate strong progressive and working knowledge of inclusive education.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability.

Wage

$3,073 – $3,717 / Bi-weekly.
