The District of Summerland is seeking two qualified Lifeguard Instructor I, one permanent part-time and one term part-time (approximately 1 year), to provide lifeguarding and aquatic instruction at the Summerland Aquatic & Fitness Centre. Interested applicants should enjoy working with the public, can adapt to an ever-changing work environment to meet the demands of the job, and have a flexible schedule.
The ideal candidates will be dependable, motivated, team-players with a positive attitude and excellent communication and customer service skills. They must also be a strong swimmer, in excellent physical condition and have the ability to effectively control large groups of people of all ages. The successful candidates will be available for a minimum of 10 hours per week from September to May and scheduled on an “as needed” basis for a limited number of shifts from June to August.
The shift schedule is varied and may include hours between 5:45am – 10:00pm weekdays and 7:30am through 9:00pm on weekends. This is a union position (CUPE 1136) and the hourly wage is $26.83 plus 15% in lieu of benefits (may be subject to probation scale)
