LINC Instructor – Employment Programs

We are currently recruiting for the position of LINC Instructor supporting our Practice Care with Children program which is a Journey toward the “Responsible Adult” certification needed to start working with children. DIVERSEcity’s Practice Care with Children program intends to meet the needs of Survivors of Violence by providing training and 40+ hours of experience working with children in a practice daycare, coaching from Early Childhood Educators, Food Safe and First Aid training, English language training and support and Access to counselling support and life skills workshops.

The LINC Instructor is responsible for planning and delivering language instruction to adult students at literacy to advanced levels; including development of curriculum, preparation of teaching materials aligned with PBLA standards, and providing settlement information to students. The LINC Instructor will also facilitate the responsible adult training.

Key Responsibilities:
Supporting employment programs, the Instructor prepares and delivers multi-level, student-centered, lessons;

Develops, prepares and delivers lessons which conform to the program curriculum and PBLA;

Facilitates the responsible adult training for program participants;

Updates and maintains records related to students, including attendance and language companions. Submits monthly reports as required by the funder;

Monitors and records student progress using PBLA;

Addresses any student-related concerns, reporting up as required;

Maintains current knowledge of Adult Education and TESL;

Maintains knowledge of current settlement trends in the local community.

Qualified Candidates will possess:
Baccalaureate degree from a recognized university in related field;

TESL certification from a TESL Canada recognized institute or equivalent;

Minimum 2 years experience in Adult ESL Education specifically ELSA or LINC;

Demonstrated knowledge of CLBs and PBLA;

Exceptional written and oral English language communication skills;

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic group environment.

Preference will be given to candidates who also posses:
Experience working in employment counselling, job coaching or related field;

CDP or CCDP is an asset;

Experience working within Employment Programs, job coaching, recruitment or similar.

This position requires union membership. A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
