Description
POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Worker provides upkeep and regular maintenance of all buildings and property at the Kootenay Valley Community Church and Thrift Store.
HOURS:
- 16 hours per week.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs minor repairs in a variety of trades such as electrical, carpentry, drywalling, plumbing and painting.
- Ensures the general upkeep of the external property, including pressure-washing sidewalks, keeping sidewalks clear of snow and ice, picking up litter, cleaning rooftops, cleaning exterior windows, sweeping sidewalks, and removing graffiti.
- Mowing and upkeep of all property grounds.
- Moves, assembles, and arranges furniture as required.
- Changes ceiling tiles and light bulbs as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Certified with WHMIS
- Current Certification in First Aid/CPR is an asset.
- Completed high school, plus relevant specialized courses of up to six months.
Experience:
- Willingness to adhere to the Mission Statement and the values of The Salvation Army.
- One year of prior related experience including maintenance and general repairs.
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- Clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
- Criminal Record Check as per the Salvation Army policy.
