The First Nations Education Steering Committee (FNESC) is an independent society led by a

strong and diverse board of about 100 First Nations community representatives. FNESC is

committed to improving education for all First Nations students in BC. FNESC works in

partnership with the First Nations School Association (FNSA), and the Indigenous Adult Higher

Learning Association (IAHLA), as well as other partner organizations.

We are currently searching Manager, First Nations Secondary Graduation and Adult Education

to play a key role in supporting our commitment to improve education for all First Nation

students in BC.

Duties and Responsibilities

Managing and supporting the Connected Classrooms Program for First Nations Schools /

Adult Education Programs, including:
o supervising the Connected Classrooms instructors

o training in-school support staff

o scheduling courses

o overseeing student registrants

o supporting participating schools on an ongoing basis

Implementing and supporting a First Nations Course Authorization Process, by

managing approval process for grade 10-12 courses and supporting schools and, other

related tasks;

Implementing and supporting new professional development;

Supporting the Cooperative Education Program for First Nations Schools, including:

o leading the annual Cooperative Education Program workshop

o assisting with the Call for Proposals

o supporting participating schools

Leadership to assist First Nations Schools/Adult Programs with accessing the Dogwood

and Adult Dogwood opportunity, including monitoring relevant communications/liaising

with the Ministry of Education (with the FNESC advisor), and helping school leaders;

Provision of direct, in-school support to First Nations secondary program leaders (high

school and adult secondary education) for overall program management.

Requirements:
The position will require an individual who has the following certifications, knowledge,

experience, skills and characteristics.

Teaching degree and current BC Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch

certification;

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a teacher and/or principal in a First Nations school

setting;

Extensive education program management and budgetary experience;

Experience in supervision of staff and contractors;

Experience developing and delivering education programs, including training, supervision

and management of resources.

This is a full time position preferably based out of the FNESC Office in West Vancouver, BC.

The normal office hours are Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm. Some weekend and

evening work will be required, as will travel throughout the province of BC.

The salary for this position is $85,000 per year.
