Manager, Fleet Operations

Manage all Regional inbound and outbound Fleet transportation operations, deliveries, services, and communication to internal associates, vendors, distribution centres, eCommerce partners and stores.

Lead and direct the operational activities of the Walmart Fleet team consisting of 100+ drivers, and 50+ power units. The Walmart Fleet operation supports the network with both inbound and outbound deliveries as well as yard management and also provides site to store support to Walmart Canada’s eCommerce division.

Provide leadership and development opportunities for direct reports by establishing performance expectations, conducting regular performance evaluations; coaching and mentoring; providing recognition and rewards.

Drives the execution of multiple business plans and projects for Fleet by identifying customer and operational needs; developing and communicating business plans and priorities; removing barriers and obstacles that impact performance; providing resources; identifying performance standards; measuring progress and adjusting performance accordingly; developing contingency plans; and demonstrating adaptability

and supporting continuous learning.

Identifies capacity constraints and identifies solutions to reduce cost and maintain service between sites and stores by selecting and defining lanes and volumes to best utilize Walmart Fleet equipment and lower costs.

Lead the strategic development and growth of the Fleet and Dispatch group; managing all driver issues and store delivery issues.

Uses relevant business metrics, analysis, and reports to measure, monitor, and improve performance.

Identifies and applies sound, fact-based criteria in setting priorities and making decisions. Looks beyond symptoms to determine the root causes of problems, and identify and implement applicable solutions. Integrates knowledge and expertise in making fact-based recommendations and decisions.

Influence, persuade, counsel, develop relationships and gain credibility with Merchants, Supply Chain, Risk Management and other key stakeholders and ensure that WMC interests are protected.

Position Summary…

The Fleet Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of Walmart assigned freight transportation (inbound and outbound) in their respective Region with direct financial accountability for ~$100M.
