Position Highlights

ICBC is hiring a skilled Manager, People Experience to support and promote the development of a positive employee experience at ICBC. This position is aligned to the People Strategy, and will define a robust employee engagement and employee listening strategy while overseeing the implementation of ICBC’s culture roadmap.

This role will oversee a team of specialists and consultants focused on defining and evolving ICBC’s people experience, culture, flexible working and employee wellness practices. As a strategic and trusted HR leader, the Manager, People Experience will provide advisory services to HR and the business on people experience and culture matters. Reporting to the Manager, Organizational Development and Culture, the Manager, People Experience will be a leading expert with proven experience in the realms of employee research, Employee Value Proposition, DEI practices, employee experience, culture, flexible working, and employee wellness.

This role will provide governance and oversight to all People Experience initiatives and will oversee DEI consultants, who deliver on diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives while driving the development and ongoing evolution of the people experience and culture plan.

The manager will build strategic, collaborative partnerships with business leaders in designated groups and act as the key People Experience point of contact with leaders across the organization, partnering to educate, and advise, and to incorporate people experience and culture components throughout core organizational systems and practices.

Further Responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Providing broad oversight and input on sustaining and advancing people experience and culture efforts across functional areas, including the organization’s ability to attract, engage and retain employees
  • Determining best practices and leading industry trends to identify solutions most suited to ICBC and the current state HR and organizational maturity
  • Ensuring all programs and initiatives are aligned with the organization and HR People Strategy and deliver the desired business benefit
  • Driving culture related initiatives and quick wins alongside the planning and execution of longer-term culture programs
  • Leading the People Experience team to execute on all people experience, employee wellness, flexible working and DEI initiatives
  • Providing coaching and day-to-day support to team to ensure quality standards are upheld, identifying opportunities for continuous development as necessary
  • Communicating corporate, divisional and unit plans, business objectives and operating goals to staff
  • Managing the implementation of new operational initiatives for the People Experience team, as directed by the Lead, OD&E
  • Proactively forecasting team resourcing needs and communicates these to the Lead, OD&E
  • Managing overall view of People Experience metrics, dashboards and scorecards to ensure accountability in tracking and monitoring initiatives while maintaining data integrity.
  • Managing all aspects of the employee lifecycle including the following; interviewing prospective employees, providing input into onboarding, conducting onboarding activities with new hires, performance management, and employee exit discussions when required

Position Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e. Human Resources, business analytics, Psychological Science, Business Administration, Organizational Behaviour, etc.)
  • Post-graduate study in a relevant field is an asset (e.g. Industrial Organizational Psychology)
  • Proven experience leading employee experience and/or culture initiatives within a large, complex environment
  • Proven experience working with people analytics, using data insights to drive decision making
  • Experience working within the insurance industry is an asset

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a collaborative and inclusive manner, fostering equitable experiences and a respectful environment through reflection, empathy, sensitivity, and curiosity towards differences across teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, written and verbal communication, conflict management, and the ability to manage diversity across identities, perspectives, and behaviours.
  • Experience in setting high standards of performance and holding oneself and relevant stakeholders accountable for results and actions.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, exercise initiative, discretionary judgment, and act with tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to work independently, but also partner cross-departmentally on related initiatives
