The opportunity
Reporting to the Regional Director, the Manager, Pipeline Team – Central Region leads a team of approximately 20 pipeline technicians geographically dispersed across the region. In this role, you will be accountable to execute and/or work collaboratively with other stakeholders in the planning, operations, and maintenance of Canada Gas pipeline field assets within the Region. You will contribute to the development of the strategy, goals and objectives for the Region and translate them for the Pipeline Team.
In this role, you will also contribute to the development, assessment, and commissioning of Capacity Capital projects; manage the operation and maintenance of compression pulldown units; support pipe integrity program work; support damage prevention requirements for the Region; and contribute to the full life cycle integration of assets for Canada Gas.
This position requires candidates to:
- Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training which would involve some overnight stays away from home (approximately 25% travel)
- Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Provide a Driver’s Abstract for review
- Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screen including drug and alcohol testing
What you’ll do
- Provide leadership to team continuously improve business performance in terms of health, safety and environment, costs, maintenance practices, and customer services
- Understand and implement Operations and Engineering Strategies
- Provide input and assistance in the development of goals and objectives from Region and down to the Team level
- Lead the efforts to achieve these goals within the area of responsibility
- Effectively manage all resources (people, financial, material, and time) in order to ensure maximum efficiency in planning, forecasting, and allocation
- Develop and foster the environment which actively enables and encourages employee innovation, continuous improvement, and commitment to operational excellence
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures pertaining to operations and maintenance
- Understand and manage facility risks and performance
- Develop, manage and monitor budgets for the Team
- Effectively work and interact with peers in order to optimize regional results and contribute to overall company success
- Spend time in the field, engaging technicians – providing direction and guidance to employees and contractors
- Provide training, development and performance management of Team members
- Ensure that TC Energy has a positive and visible image in the communities within the area
- Other tasks or initiatives as required
As a leader in Field Operations, you will be expected to:

As a member of the Regional Leadership Team, you will be required to:
- Work collaboratively to establish the region’s strategy, goals, and objectives
- Commit to the execution and delivery of the region’s goals and objectives
- Collaborate with area managers within and outside region and other functional stakeholders (Land, Environment, Supply Chain, Canadian Regulatory Compliance, Safety, Public Affairs, Community Investment, Indigenous Relations, and Emergency Management (among others) to execute on common goals and identify efficiency opportunities
- Represent the company and foster critical partnerships both internally and externally
- Be a champion for continuous improvement and change management
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a technical trades certificate, technical college diploma, two year associate degree in technical discipline, or equivalent
- Minimum 10 or more years of related work experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous leadership experience is preferred
- Previous pipeline maintenance experience would be considered an asset
- Proven experience managing scheduling and resources is preferred
- Knowledge and familiarity with TC Energy’s business vision, strategies, practices, processes and systems
- Knowledge of TC Energy’s Leadership competencies and a commitment to career development
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills combined with the ability to utilize those skills during interactions with peers, employees, internal and external customers, and community groups
- Demonstrated leadership in the area of health, safety, and environment, change management, employee development, performance management and team building skills
