Bi-Weekly Hours: 75.0 hours bi-weekly(Commencing Immediately)This position reports to the Director of Public Safety and is responsible for coordination of policing services in PEI through collaboration and engagement with municipal police services, RCMP, provincial enforcement entities and federal enforcement. This position is also responsible for coordination of security intelligence between provincial and federal intelligence services and the government of PEI.Duties include: – Consulting with representatives of police organizations and municipalities regarding the development of provincial policing standards;- Monitor and advise on Ministerial Directives issued under the Police Act;- Provide leadership and direction regarding the implementation of recommendations made by the Crime Prevention and Policing Services Model Review;- Updating training and designations regarding law enforcement justification provisions under section 25.1 of the Criminal Code and maintaining training and designations on an on-going basis;- Working with the Training Officer, “L” Division, officials of the Atlantic Police Academy, and municipal police officials responsible for training to promote a coordinated, cost efficient approach to police training.- Maintaining liaison with the “L” Division RCMP Provincial Policing Coordinator;- Maintaining liaison with the municipalities holding Municipal Policing Services Agreements to assure effectiveness of service and coordination with Provincial Policing;- Participate in Federal/Provincial/Territorial (FPT) Committee work; – Assisting designated employees and contractors complete and submit security clearance documentation as required;- Provide confidential briefings, advice and recommendations to the Director, Deputy Minister and Minister, as required;- Maintain liaison with the PEI Office of the Police Commissioner;- Prepare documentation for Ministerial appointments under the Police Act;- Act as Departmental Emergency Services Officer regarding all Justice and Public Safety response capabilities during emergencies and disasters.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: – Applicants must have a university degree in social or police science with extensive experience working in policing; – Demonstrated equivalencies will be considered;- Must have demonstrated initiative, excellent working knowledge of law enforcement and experience planning and conducting training;- Must possess excellent written, verbal, presentation, leadership and facilitation skills.- Successful candidate must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a required security clearances (renewable).Note: Please ensure the application clearly demonstrates how you meet the noted qualifications as applicants will be screened based on the information provided.
