MANAGER, POLICY AND PROGRAMS

If so, consider this opportunity to provide leadership and executive support to the Assistant Deputy Minister’s (ADM) Office in the Operations Division. This is your opportunity to contribute to the delivery of regional programs, transportation user services, and operational policy for all modes of transportation.

Our Team:
Working with a diverse group of internal and external partners, our team develops transportation policies and plans to ensure that the mobility needs of Ontarians are integrated and addressed. The division is composed of 7 branches responsible for:

  • integrating the delivery of ministry services across five geographic regions, including managing ministry issues, stakeholders and relationships, corridor management, emergency management, infrastructure preservation and protection, maintenance and operations, to ensure a safe, continuous flow of people, goods and services to facilitate economic prosperity
  • providing operational policy and provincial service delivery for public-facing services including Concession Agreements, Remote Airports, Marine Services, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and Traveler Communication to ensure users receive a consistent experience while accessing the provincial transportation network across all modes of transportation and related services

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this leadership role, you’ll be expected to:

  • demonstrate authenticity, accountability and courage

  • lead with a common purpose, be inclusive and drive people centered outcomes
  • provide leadership, guidance and coaching to a small team of policy professionals
  • provide a variety of coordination and support services to the ADM to ensure the efficient operation of an executive office
  • provide strategic input and advice to the ADM on policy proposals, options and issues
  • manage the flow of information, correspondence and documentation for approval throughout the division
  • build collaborative partnerships with other executive offices as well as ministry partners and key stakeholders
  • lead the planning and implementation of special projects

How do I qualify?

Leadership skills:

  • You have experience providing strategic direction, guidance and coaching to staff and/or project teams.
  • You have experience fostering an environment of high performance, inclusion, learning, growth and continuous improvement.
  • You have experience leading complex projects or high-profile initiatives, effectively utilizing resources and prioritizing tasks to deliver results.
  • You have experience applying good judgement and political acuity to manage complex, sensitive and high-profile issues.

Communication and stakeholder management skills:

  • You have experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders, partners and clients.
  • You have experience providing sound, strategic advice and briefings to senior executives.
  • You have oral/written communication and facilitation skills to effectively convey information to a variety of audiences and gain support for key initiatives.

Policy experience:

  • You have experience leading public policy projects or initiatives (policy development, implementation and evaluation).
