Out-of-Scope
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the operation of the salvage branch in Moose Jaw. In this role, you will manage and monitor the pricing and sale of salvage vehicles, recycled vehicle parts, general salvage and corporate assets to the public and repair shops. As part of this role, at times you may be exposed to fumes, excessive loud noise, dust, outside temperature extremes, wind, rain, and snow.
Key Accountabilities

Salvage Management Sales and Production
Provides technical expertise and direction on vehicle selection and pricing for dismantle, and the pricing and sale of parts, general salvage and corporate assets.
Manages warehousing, inventory count, purging, distribution and reconciliation of vehicles and vehicle parts.
Supports claims branches and provides accurate salvage values for auto and general claims.
Ensures operations are in compliance with divisional operating policies and procedures.
Verifies branch and yard maintenance is up to date and being performed at an acceptable level.
Arranges timely salvage pick ups; negotiates freight, towing and storage rates.
Completes all required head office reports and reviews, verifies and signs off on branch manager reports and daily invoices.
Reviews and authorizes warranties, credits, price adjustments and returns.
Plans, schedules and monitors branch operations and work flow.
Ensures net vehicle sales, net general sales, and part and interface sales to repair vehicle claims are achieved as budgeted.
Maintains returns on ACV for all dismantled and sold vehicles as budgeted.
Oversees building operating expenses, security and repairs for the branch.
Ensures the branch complies with environmental regulations set by Saskatchewan Auto Recyclers Association and the Automotive Recyclers of Canada.
External Relationships and Customer Experience Management
Works with local police on theft recovered, impounded or accident vehicles requiring investigation.
Supplies the fire department, police services and educational institutions with vehicles and parts to aid in training exercises, classroom learning and safety initiatives.
Promotes effective communication at all levels in the salvage department, with other areas of the corporation, with outside agencies, body shops, automotive industry and the general public.
Liaises with other insurance companies and adjusters on the sale of salvage units.
Develops and maintains good quality working relationships with external contacts including agents, brokers, other recyclers, collision repair and restoration firms, tow firms, independent adjusters, and expert consultants.
Manages, monitors and evaluates the customer experience, ensuring it meets divisional and corporate expectations.
Provides direction, advice and guidance to employees on complex customer transactions.
Receives and resolves escalated customer inquiries.
People Leadership

Corporate Management
Ensures programs and policies are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.

Prepares, reviews, manages and/or approves departmental/divisional budgets.
Prepares decision requests, decision and/or information items and/or SGI board items.
Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility, including development, implementation and managing of program components specific to departmental health and safety requirements.
Makes decisions for departmental operations that are efficient, effective and in alignment with strategic direction and priorities.
Ensures department and program policies, procedures and guidelines are in compliance with applicable federal and provincial legislation and regulations; implements and evaluates changes to legislation and regulations in area of authority.
Establishes and maintains an effective system of internal controls to support reliable financial reporting and compliance in accordance with applicable laws and regulations within the span of control and communicates the importance of internal controls to staff.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
Knowledge of automotive marketing and sales strategies, automotive repair costs and salvage values.
Knowledge of business budgeting and reporting processes.
Knowledge of divisional and/or branch procedures.
Knowledge of inventory controls and warehousing procedures.
Knowledge of automotive parts and their interchangeability.
Knowledge of yard management system.
Knowledge of the insurance market.
Knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and workers compensation board requirements.
Knowledge of heavy trucking industry, heavy equipment, agricultural equipment and recreational vehicles.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
A motor vehicle auto body repairer journeyperson certificate, automotive service technician journeyperson certificate or other industry related equivalent certification.
Eight years’ experience comprised of four years progressively responsible leadership and four years with increasing responsibility in a sales or production environment.
Pay Range:$98,796.00 – $131,736.00
