The Manager SC Procurement: Courier Express Parcel will be directly responsible for leading the North Amercia CEP team including 2 direct reports. The team owns approximately $127 million in Courier, Express and Parcel (CEP) Transportation spend for Johnson & Johnson Companies. This spend is medium complexity and requires a collaboration with key cross-functional stakeholders within the business to execute. This individual will work with the Global Logistics Procurement CEP team to direct the implementation and execution of Procurement goals and strategy and deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, and service and compliance adherence.
The Manager SC Procurement: Courier Express Parcel will collaborate with Global Category Leadership by giving input into category strategy development, maintaining key Regional Stakeholder relationships within the business, and conducting key Regional supplier relationships management activities including business reviews and escalations.
The Manager is accountable for sourcing logistics solutions and services in partnership with stakeholders to deliver innovative capabilities, and services, across all sectors, with a focus on U.S. and Canadian CEP Transportation.
The Manager, North America Logistics Procurement scope of responsibilities include:
Lead the NA CEP team in developing strategies to Execute the Global Logistics Procurement (GLP) category vision, strategy, and implementation plan for the CEP category that will effectively meet the long-range requirements of the Global and Regional business partners and deliver the maximum value for J&J.
Interface directly with Regional supplier leadership to assure alignment of J&J’s objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation, and cost.
Collaborate with operational business partners to under business demand requirements and partner with the GLP Business Engagement Leads to deliver annual value improvements and drive competitive advantage.
Deliver on Regional financial, service, reliability, quality, innovation, and growth commitments.
Develop deep Regional supplier relationships with strategic suppliers to include data review and analysis, performance management and development and improvement of end-to-end value, and bring innovation to the business.
Identify, develop, and direct the implementation of Procurement’s goals and category strategies, based on deep subject matter expertise and an understanding of industry/market dynamics.
Work directly with regional deliver partners to find opportunities for problem solving and strategic solutions.
Develop and manage internal and external partnerships by demonstrating strong leadership, project management, partnership, analytical, and communication skills.
Apply strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, in order to build relationships and understand business needs.
Demonstrate the ability to develop a regional execution plan relevant to their mode(s) of ownership.
Effectively manage the strategic relationship with external suppliers.
Develop and convey mode expertise in order to identify and implement cost and/or service improvements.
Lead cyclical sourcing events, as well as mid-contract negotiations, as needed.
Participate in industry professional organizations.
Provide onboarding, direction, support and coaching to assigned direct/ reports and/or functional team members.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Approximate Percentage of Time – Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities
50% – Execution of the GLP CEP category strategy that is aligned to business partner needs. Execution will include Regional sourcing strategy execution, supplier negotiations, sourcing events, contract implementation and performance monitoring against established targets
25% – Manage Regional supplier relationships, execute joint collaborative Innovative initiatives, and monitor supplier contract negotiations
10% – Support Operations and Deliver based activities and tasks such as escalations, new accounts and or ad hoc projects.
10% – Lead, develop and support overall NA CEP team strategy for direct reports
5% – Any identified regional priorities or GLP projects as assigned.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree is required.
A minimum of 5 years of related experience is required.

Broad-based understanding of Global and/or Regional transportation operations
Strong leadership, communication, influencing, and collaboration skills are required
Able to see issues from multiple viewpoints and understand differing needs of stakeholders (e.g., businesses, GLP Leadership, NA Regional Transportation Organization); has “presence”
Strong level of credibility with internal customers and with the supplier community
Able to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary.
Ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues to continuously improve the organization

Strong project management skills and success in leading cross-functional project teams

Experienced professional with business experience in multiple roles across Procurement and/or Transportation (supplier, shipper, or supply chain environments)
Travel up to 10% may be required
