The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $55,317- $ 62,259 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

Performance range: starting salary to max of $72,307 is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Residence Services, the Marketing and Communications Manager is responsible for developing, managing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans for Residence Services, including conducting market research. The Manager will, in collaboration with members of the leadership team, develop and oversee web, social media, digital, print and visual content and materials for internal and external audiences, including residence applicants and families, current residents, university departments, and the greater community. The Manager will use their expertise in marketing and communications to promote and publicize Residence Services operations and activities, ensuring that all communications and activities meet both UVic standards and Residence Service’s organizational goals. The Manager may write and/or review and edit internal documents such as manuals, process documents, forms, newsletters and other publications.

The Manager will collaborate with other university departments to promote the residences as part of strategic enrollment management strategies, and will represent Residence Services at recruitment and orientation events.

Job Requirements

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing and Communications or a related field plus 3 years of recent experience in a marketing and communications position.

Experience must include:
The development and implementation of strategic marketing or communications plans

Writing, editing, graphic design and content development for a variety of mediums, including web, digital and print

Experience with the development and oversight of marketing and communication materials on web, social media and digital platforms

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge requirements include:
Market research and analysis

Social media platforms and techniques

Website content management and software

Print production techniques and software

Competency requirements include:
Superior writing and editing skills

A creative approach to problem solving

Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

Strong design and visual literacy skills

Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to lead and inspire teams in the development of creative ideas

Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with interdisciplinary teams

Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Proven track record in setting priorities and achieving project goals on time

Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects

Assets or Preferences:
Knowledge or experience with communication trends in the higher educational student market

Knowledge of student development theory
