The salary range for this position is:
Recruitment range: $59,180 – $66,608 starting salary determined by the PEA Collective Agreement.

Performance range: starting salary to max of $77,666 is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

The Recruitment and Education Advisor (REA) reports directly to the Director, Pre-experience Master Programs. This position engages actively with the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Graduate Admissions and Records, and various other UVic departments as required and consults with Gustavson Communications and Marketing on program marketing initiatives. The Advisor is responsible for recruitment and admissions activities in target markets, and student advising for prospective students as well as current UVic students with designated preferred access to MM.

The REA is responsible for providing faculty, staff, and students with coordination, guidance, and enactment of University and School level academic policy.

This position may be required to travel for recruitment and to attend other appropriate events (either virtually or in person) as a representative of and in order to promote the MGB and MM as well as other Gustavson programs.

Job Requirements

This position requires baccalaureate degree plus minimum 5 years of experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment and/or professional program including:

Exercise good judgment in relation to procedures, processes, complex regulations and policies involving students, faculty and staff

Advising to post-secondary students

Demonstrated public speaking and interpersonal communication skills

Demonstrated experience developing digital and print marketing campaigns

Demonstrated technological abilities with general office software, data management, interpretation and reporting as well as SEO and analytical tools.

Experience analyzing, problem solving and resolving complex academic and administrative issues

Demonstrated thorough up-to-date knowledge of domestic and international education systems

Experience using a student records database (preferably Banner)

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Knowledge requirements include:
must have strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and experience with databases;

Social Media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Vine, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest etc.) and how each platform can be optimally deployed in different scenarios;

an understanding of business education practices and policies;

an understanding and commitment to equity and diversity;

Competency requirements include:
Proven well developed organizational and time management skills to handle heavy workloads, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines

strong assessment, advising, planning, and problem-solving skills;

excellent analytical and critical thinking skills

superior communication skills, both written and verbal

ability to provide a safe environment to encourage communication with students regarding sensitive and confidential matters

demonstrated administrative and organizational skills

ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment to support the program and School’s goals

ability to work effectively with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel.

Must be genuine, highly motivated, and service oriented

Assets or Preferences:
an understanding of the responsibilities of various UVic departments (e.g. SAFA, Graduate Admissions and Records Office and University Systems, University Health Services);

proficiency with a second language.

an understanding of Gustavson graduate academic policies, procedures, and regulations;
