Position Title: Director, Centre for Institutional Quality Enhancement

Hours of work: Minimum number of hours – 35 per Week
Salary Range: Level 11 – Annual Hiring Salary, $93,633, with annual step progression in accordance with the Salary Grid.

Job Summary: Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Planning and Strategic Analysis, this position is responsible for overseeing key processes that support the academic mission of Ontario Tech University and the province’s Quality Council standards. The Director, Centre for Institutional Quality Enhancement (CIQE) manages all academic program-related approval processes across the university to ensure internal governance requirements are met in a collegial academic environment. This includes the responsibility for the creation and publication of the academic calendars, and the stewardship of the university’s curriculum catalog. A key area of focus is the leadership for the new program approval process from idea, to proposal, to external appraisal of the program and government approval. Further, the Director is responsible for all academic program reviews across the university to enhance program quality, student learning outcomes, and alignment with Ontario Tech’s academic goals and ensure adherence to Quality Council standards.
Responsibilities/accountabilities:
Creation of internal policies, procedures and templates related to quality enhancement of programs and other academic initiatives.
Resource to the graduate and undergraduate studies committees.
Chairs the university academic resource committee
Manage Notice of Intent process for all new programs at Ontario Tech University.
Ensure programs reviews are completed in accordance with Quality Council requirements.
Managing the requirements for curricular changes across all Faculties at Ontario Tech from minor course title changes to major modifications.
Ensuring records management of all documentation for external audits.
Advising administrative and academic units of potential implications as a result of curricular changes.
Overall management of the implementation of an online curriculum management tool across the institution to ensure adherence to provincial guidelines.
Manage the overall production of the undergraduate and graduate academic calendars for accuracy on programs and policies related to academic programs.
Oversee the articulation agreement process for pathways with both domestic and international partners, by ensuring compliance with Ministry objectives related to Pathways in Ontario.
Works closely with General Council and University Secretariate to ensure all approved program proposals/changes are captured in the University’s academic calendar and policy library (where required).
Deals with complex cases arising from conflicting interpretation of policies as it relates to academic programs.
Responsible for completed performance management assessment annually for employees.
Required Skills
Possess excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing and presentation skills, effective interpersonal skills, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to deal with volume in an interdisciplinary setting and to adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to work under pressure, strict deadlines, and manage a multiple priority workload.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to work with diverse groups of colleagues and develop relationships with government staff.
Education
Completion of a Master’s Degree, advanced degrees are considered an asset.

Required Experience
7 to 10 years experience, with the ability to manage a wide portfolio. Strong attention to detail, negotiation skills, and effective communicator.
