Position: Outreach Community Worker

Status: Full time, Permanent

Location: Pointe-Claire, QC

Schedule: 28 to 35 hours per week

AMCAL Family Services is a West Island based, non-profit, community organization serving families in Montreal and its surrounding areas for the past 40 years. Our team of dedicated professionals is committed to serving the needs of youth, young adults and parents through our Residential, Outreach, Supervised Visits and Community Groups programs. Our approach is to support youth by protecting, promoting and preserving healthy family relationships thereby strengthening communities.

AMCAL’s Early Childhood Program provides educational activities and social support to families identified as vulnerable in the West Island of Montreal.

Responsibilities:
The Outreach Community Worker is a link between parents and community resources and is responsible for developing activities and promoting the participation and commitment of parents in their community. In addition, the Outreach Community Worker is responsible for developing strategies to better meet the needs of vulnerable families.

Develop strategies and actions promoting the inclusion of families and parental involvement

Carry out outreach work to reach vulnerable families

Inform, guide and refer families to resources, services and activities

Develop and organize of activities for families (sharing groups, training for parents, lunch with mothers, etc.)

Develop and maintain relationships with strategic partners; make your program known and know partners’ programs to facilitate meetings with families

Participate in partner activities

Participate in relevant consultation meetings

Maintain the collection of qualitative and quantitative information on the activities organized

Take care of communications (monthly newsletter, Facebook, website, promotion of activities, etc.)

Perform additional tasks as needed or assigned

Requirements:
DEC in social services or related field

Minimum of two years’ experience in family intervention and animation

Knowledge of West Island resources and community

Bilingualism required (French-English)

Excellent interpersonal skills

Team player; strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently, yet in great collaboration with colleagues

Strong computer skills required for MS Office Suite and Google Platform
