Part Time General Studies Faculty (English/Humanities)

I. JOB SUMMARY

Yorkville University has openings for part-time faculty who can teach English and Humanities courses for its General Studies program. The position is flexible for online and on campus teaching.

The successful candidate should be able to travel to our Steeles campus (2000 Steeles Ave W., Concord, ON) and the Dundas Sq. campus (460 Yonge St., Toronto, ON).

The Faculty – Part Time carries out educational instruction and related services for assigned courses, providing fully prepared current instruction to students. These services will be provided on the day and time mutually agreed to as outlined in the term schedule.

The Faculty – Part Time the qualifications and credentials as required by Yorkville University and is responsible for maintaining and updating their education/training, as required, for such qualifications and credentials.

II. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– · teach courses as assigned
– · actively engages in student retention activities, including documented communication with students regarding attendance and progress
– · provides assistance for the planning, development and maintenance of program curriculum
– · develops course content, as needed
– · prepares and marks all tests, assignments and exams
– · works with the Program Chair to resolve student concerns
– · attends scheduled Program meetings, in-service workshops and institution wide meetings
– · complies with the administrative requirements to take attendance, grade papers and exams and to hand in final grades as per Yorkville University’s term schedule
– · provides annual documentation of continuing professional growth
– · adheres to and publicly supports all Yorkville University policies and procedures, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Student Handbook and the Faculty Handbook

III. POSITION PROFILE

A. Education and Experience

– Candidates need to hold a terminal degree (PhD preferred) in their discipline with 3-5 years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level
– On-line teaching experience would be an asset.
– Earned a minimum of a Masters degree in relevant field, preference will be given to Master of Arts and/or Master of Fine Arts
– Post secondary teaching experience is preferred, including online where applicable
– Extensive practical experience within relevant profession
