Description
General Service responsibilities: To assist in the planning and delivery of the childcare programs for the Bethany Hope Centre within the applicable legal, financial and safety framework.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning, implementation and evaluation of appropriate age-based activities according to skill and learning levels that promote social interaction and personal development
- Support the scheduling of childcare spots and interact with parents regarding space available in the childcare room
- Provide on-going feedback and engagement with parents on child’s development and behavior
- Ensure that all information about children, family, staff, visitors and volunteers are strictly confidential and recorded in the database as per policy and protocol
- Support parent/child intakes and child development assessments as required
- Role model appropriate behaviours and attitudes supporting growth and promoting change for the child and family
- Participate in ongoing training in the areas of trauma and infant/child mental health
- Provide emergency first aid and complete reports and files incident reports as required
- Provide and prepare healthy snacks
- Maintain facility cleanliness, tidiness
- Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Minimum Education Level Attained: The successful job applicant will have completed high school, plus at least a specialization in Early Childhood Education Assistant course, or equivalent (ie. Child and Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, full ECE)
- Registered Early Childhood Education Assistant or registered with equivalent association (ie. CYC association)
- Certified in Infant/Child Mental Health an asset
- Current First Aid/CPR (within 2 years)
Experience:
- More than three months prior related experience, including experience in a childcare environment
- Trauma informed and infant/child mental health training an asset
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- The incumbent is required to lift more than 20 pounds
Successful candidate will be required to provide upon hiring:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening (within 3 months)
- A clear internal abuse registry check
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
HOURS: 22 hours/week
