As a Policy Coordinator, you will be responsible for the development of a new policies or amending existing policies from the initiation phase to the distribution of the policy. Primary duties include:
Manage the policy development process which includes the following phases: Initiation of policy amendment, research, stakeholder engagement, writing, editing, and formatting the policy draft and obtaining approval and the distribution of the policy.
Create content from complex documents such as legislation to draft policies that are legally sound, concise and in plain language in accordance with CPS policy writing standards.
Research best practices, evaluate new legislation, regulations, Provincial Policing Standards and administrative tribunal decisions for impact on CPS policy and procedures.
Act as a subject matter expert on policy-related initiatives and issues.
Help other Calgary Police Service (CPS) staff members and external agencies with policy-related inquiries.
Act as a specialized resource to provide instruction and guidance to members tasked with creating or amending policies or procedures.
Qualifications
Degree in Social Sciences, Communications, Criminology, or a related field plus 1 year related experience.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (for example: Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience writing policies and procedures would be considered an asset.
Experience working in law enforcement would also be considered an asset.
Success in this position requires strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships that help with team building and teamwork. Demonstrate efficiency and thoroughness while focusing on results. Maintains service orientation and stress tolerance.

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
