Policy Coordinator

Reporting to the Director, Legislative Services, the Policy Coordinator is responsible for the development and management of the council and corporate policy program.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Key researcher, developer, and drafter of Council and administrative policies.
  • Provide direction and recommendations to Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Policy Coordinator
  • Provide recommendations to departments in policy and procedure development.
  • Administer the corporate policy program and maintain an accurate and current database of policies.
  • Leads policy analysis, research, program, and process development with a focus on quality assurance and improvement.
  • Work with departments to develop policies, strategies, and program recommendations to improve service quality and service user experience.
  • Develop and deliver training programs, presentations, and materials for staff, and Council to support the corporate policy program.
  • Prepare Council reports, research analysis, briefing notes, presentations and other policy reports and recommendations as required.
  • Maintain and update the library of administrative policies and procedures.
  • Act with integrity in a professional and responsible manner at all times.
  • Display a professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use information appropriately, and maintain the confidentiality and security of all information related to employees, business and residents of Rocky View County.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Position Requirements:
Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field along with a minimum three years of progressively responsible and diversified office experience in a municipal and/or legal environment.

  • Experience in project management including project design, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience in policy analysis, planning, and development.
  • Experience in writing comprehensive complex and formal reports
  • Experience in system analysis definitely an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Experience with public speaking.
  • Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Possess above-average skills in written communication including the composition of minutes, letters, and reports, and in grammar, spelling and clarity.
  • Demonstrated initiative and innovation in identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate changes within designated authority.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills including managing workloads and working effectively under the pressure of time limitations and constraints.
  • Commitment to cooperative teamwork with a positive attitude, approachability, and ability to foster a positive work environment.
  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills with internal and external customers.
