Shopify Culture & Communications is our in-house team that is focused on the production and distribution of content about Shopify, our Mission, our merchants, our people and beyond. We are the internal storytellers at Shopify. We produce premium content for Shopifolk – everything from articles and podcasts, to digital videos and long-form film content (ex. Summit, an annual company-wide event for Shopifolk). Job Description

We’re looking for a Production Manager to join our team, to manage all of the logistical elements on our in-house original content. Our team produces internal media content for Shopifolk, including original series, Town Hall, our Context Podcast, and Summit.

Our successful Production Manager will work directly with our Production Operations Supervisor, as well as our Producers, to ensure we produce and execute detailed, high-quality content efficiently and without any roadblocks. They will be tasked with managing multiple projects and/or content series at once,depending on the scope & complexity of the given projects. They will see projects from ideation all the way to final delivery, and will manage budgets, work with stakeholders, build out individual crews, and manage timelines and deliverables.

You’ll need to have:
Experience in all areas of the production process, development, pre-production, production, post production & deliverables in order to both speak the language to contributors & educate others that don’t have experience in the craft

Proficient communication skills in order to properly manage productions

The ability to oversee and make decisions on all logistical elements across multiple projects

The eye & knowledge for sourcing out compelling talent / crew, as needed

Experience building out new workflows to continue having production run smoothly at scale

Experience producing budgets & cost reports

The ability to deliver high quality content, at scale

The drive to take on new challenges, having a growth mindset

The ability to learn on the fly, adapt & adjust the way you operate based on scope of work

Self-motivation and an effective communication skills

A knack for giving and receiving feedback openly and honestly

The ability to thrive on chaos (and change)

Qualifications

You’ll get to do things like:
Work with a team that will be involved with communication strategy, via visual storytelling for all of Shopify to understand the company and our mission(s)

Propose, implement, and maintain operational systems to scale out content series and/or projects

Ensure all day-to-day production tasks are completed, such as sourcing and booking crew, talent & equipment, creating call sheets and production schedules, organizing various production elements, and booking travel accommodations (when needed), etc.

Manage multiple budgets of different scales

Communicate key production details to a variety of stakeholders & contributors

Be deeply ingrained in all phases of the production process, development, pre-production, production, post production & delivery

Build out production teams, both internally and externally

Collaborate with a talented group of creative producers & creators

Work with high level / senior stakeholders within the company, and contribute to communicating important company decisions
