        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
RESPONSIBILITIES:
To work within areas of admitting Clients, intake processing, triaging, primary support worker, monitoring,
referral and clerical duties. Provide clients with encouragement and access to wrap around supports which
ultimately lead to getting housed and staying housed.
• Fulfill all daily tasks as outlined on PSCW shift responsibility sheets
• Facilitate intake processes
• Assist with supervision of clients

• Provide ongoing daily support, assistance and encouragement in breaking the cycles of poverty,
homelessness and violence.
• Perform all necessary Clerical duties for Client documentation, including Emergency housing Services
Forms, computer entries, LogBook entries, wake-up, towel & other required forms.
• Data entry of all required data fields in HIFIS.
• Make necessary referrals.
• Conduct Facility on a regular basis according to policy
• Ensure all donations received are recorded according to policy
• Ensure that all telephone calls are recorded according to policy
• Enforce Agency Rules and Expectations consistently
• Facilitate daily resident meetings to set out each resident’s plan for the day and to communicate chore
responsibilities. Workers receive and record concerns from residents and follow up with concerns until
resolution is achieved. A meeting is held each morning at 9:15 and each evening at 10:15.
• Conduct daily random room checks and record and report findings to Program Services Coordinator
• Monitor kitchen during all meals.
• Provide support, crisis intervention and conflict resolution as required.
• Arrange for wake-up calls for Clients who request same
• Responsible for bed checks; to document all necessary ‘Beds Not Used’
• Make regular rounds throughout building, including walking through the dormitory and bathrooms
• Medication Monitoring (as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

College diploma in Social Sciences field or equivalent experience (minimum)
• Previous experience with people experiencing homelessness would be an asset
• Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of Women’s issues
• Knowledge and understanding of Mental Health/Addictions
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of and a commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression and
equity.
• Problem solving skills essential. The responsibilities associated with this position demand a high degree
of confidentiality
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (Processing/Desktop, Publishing, Spreadsheet/Graphing,
Database computer skills essential)
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Must have good interpersonal/time management skills
• Good knowledge of community resources
• Valid Driver’s License is a requirement
SALARY / GRADE: 4. Starting Pay Rate: $18.75 per Hour.
HOURS: 12 hour shifts, 42 hours per week average
