Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, the Public Areas Manager will be responsible for the upkeep of all public areas in respect to complete care, cleanliness, maintenance and inventory, while assisting with other areas of the hotel and housing as required.

What you will be doing:
Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
Train and supervise all colleagues within this department
Work with colleagues on a daily basis
Monitor health and safety regulations and W.H.I.M.S. training
Ensure all equipment within the department is maintained and is in good working order
Conduct and follow-up on monthly communication meetings
Conduct weekly walk through with engineering through all hotel and housing public areas
Ensure all closets are clean and stocked
Ensure that the Great Hall floors are in immaculate shape on a daily basis
Assist Executive Housekeeper with other aspects of the Housekeeping operation as required
Responsible for all disciplinary action of Public Areas Colleagues in accordance with progressive corrective action guidelines
Maintain good departmental and interdepartmental communication on a daily basis
Implementing and maintaining ongoing training of Public Areas Colleagues
Hotel orientation for all new Public Areas Colleagues
Ensure that all Colleagues in Public Areas are trained to work safely
Performance evaluation of all Public Areas Colleagues
Assist in effectively managing Colleague relationships within the department and hotel
Maintain Public Areas daily and monthly payroll budget
Responsible for creation and maintaining bi-weekly schedule for Public Areas Colleagues
Review daily and weekly internal agendas
Ensure that proper Housekeeping procedures and standards are followed
Ensure the highest standards of cleanliness in accordance with hotel standards, policies and procedures
Develop training manual and job task checklists for each shift
Weekly inventory control of all required supplies
Promotes health, safety and wellbeing of our guests and co-workers by having in-depth knowledge of the Hotel’s crisis and emergency procedures;
Adhering to the hotel’s vehicle handling and safety policies while driving hotel and guest vehicles
Other duties as assigned
Your experience and skills include:
Previous supervisory experience
Able to work flexible hours over a 24 hour period
Able to deal effectively with other departments
Must possess a Valid Alberta Drivers License and able to drive a standard vehicle
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
Highly responsible & reliable
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
Strong motivational skills
Exceptional attention to detail
Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
