Regional Director

Job Description:
The RVH Stroke program is home to the Enhanced District Stroke Centre which includes RVH clinical stroke services and regional planning responsibilities (Central East Stroke Network). The team is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for those who are at risk for having a stroke and for those who require care and rehabilitation after a stroke.

Reporting to the Operations Director, Medicine Program, the Regional Director of the Central East Stroke Network role will:

  • Provide leadership focusing across the continuum of stroke care while advancing provincial priorities within the Central East Stroke Region,
  • Direct and lead regional planning including implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of an integrated system of stroke care that is based on best practices in collaboration with the Central East Stroke Network Regional Steering Committee.
  • Foster and maintain strong partnerships and relationships with stakeholders across the stroke care continuum at the provincial, regional, district and community levels, including key relationships with the Local Health Integration Networks (NSM, Central East, Central LHIN), the Ontario Health Regions (Central and East), with CorHealth, and other provincial and national organizations to support the development of the system of stroke care.
  • Be responsible for disseminating an understanding of corporate strategic directions, mission, vision and values among staff and serves as a link between program staff and executive administration.
  • Provide leadership to a team of clinical professionals, responsibilities include staffing (recruitment, scheduling and performance management), and financial management

As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:

  • Minimum Baccalaureate Degree in a health related discipline; Master’s Degree preferred (Nursing, Applied Health Sciences, Community Health and Epidemiology, Health Administration e.g. licensed membership in good standing with a professional college under the RHPA).
  • 5 years’ experience in health care project management and/or system change.
  • Significant clinical background related to stroke care.
  • Sound knowledge of the complexities of the Ontario Stroke System, the Central East Stroke Network, the District of Simcoe and the stakeholders involved.
  • Strong communication (oral and written), organizational and team building skills with the ability to create strong interpersonal relationships with the Hospital, the community, the District of Simcoe, the Central East Region and other healthcare service organizations within the province.
  • Ability to manage change and foster an environment which promotes autonomous practice and collaborative decision making.
  • Experience in health services research and program evaluation.
  • Strong skills required in human resources, conflict resolution, financial management, decision making, and customer service.
