Description
The Driver provides courteous and safe pick up of donations of food, products at various locations in and around the city of Barrie.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the safe operation of the program vehicle through daily maintenance of vehicle logs, daily circle checks prior to leaving property, checking fluid levels and regular maintenance
- Ensure the safe and careful handling of all pick-ups while protecting property, including donations and vehicle.
- Picks up donations of food, supplies, products from various donors and suppliers and unloads goods at Bayside Mission Centre or Essa Road Thrift Store
- Provides donors with courteous and diplomatic service
- Ensures cleanliness of donation bins daily
- Ensures Christmas Kettle equipment is delivered to various locations at commencement of campaign and pick-up at conclusion of campaign
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Grade 12 education plus specialized courses of up to 6 months
- Current Non-Violence Crisis Intervention Training or willingness to obtain
- Current First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) year but less than three (3) years of prior related experience
Skills and Capabilities (examples provided below):
- Support for and an understanding of mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada
- Ability to reach, bend, stoop and lift more than 20 pounds
- Maintain knowledge of legislative and company policies such as Health and Safety Regulations, Provincial and Municipal Highway traffic acts
- Possess excellent problem solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work as a team member with other staff, volunteers, donors, and clients
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to follow detailed instructions
- Possess a positive attitude and works well with other team members
- To maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to clientele and staff of The Salvation Army
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Valid Driver’s License
The successful candidate upon hiring must provide or participate in:
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Participate in our online Armatus Abuse Training and Health and Safety training required upon hiring, as well as updated annually
