Job Summary
Takes the lead for NSERC in the development of regional research, training and innovation partnerships involving university, industrial, government and NGO sectors. Assumes the role of Program Officer for grant programs offered through Regional Development including promotion, advice, review, evaluation and recommendation of grant applications. Disseminates information on the full range of NSERC Partnership and Industrial Scholarship and Fellowship programs and increases the regional visibility of NSERC particularly with the private sector. Facilitates and promotes collaborative linkages between regional research and innovation agencies.
Statement of Qualifications
Education
A bachelor degree in natural sciences or engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Foreign Credential Validation against Canadian Standards
Experience
- Significant experience in research administration, experience in administering science or engineering funding programs, or research experience in a university, government or similar setting
Significant experience in project and program planning and management
Significant experience in developing research partnerships and interacting with diverse groups of stakeholders
- Significant is equivalent to three or more years of experience.
Knowledge
Knowledge of research processes in universities, industry and government
Knowledge of government, non-government, public and private sectors related to the job
A good understanding of the principles and practices of research promotion and of knowledge transfer and commercialization
Knowledge of the mandate and structure of NSERC and its policies, programs and procedures is an asset
Abilities
Ability to independently plan, organize, execute and control a number of complex projects at one time
Excellent oral, writing and presentation skills
Ability to gather and integrate regional intelligence on research and innovation
Ability to analyze and evaluate information to make recommendations
Ability to consult and negotiate with stakeholders to identify and establish joint collaboration initiatives
