Position Summary:
Since 2016, the E-IDEA (Engineering Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity Advancement) Teamwork Initiative has been working to increase capacity to successfully engage with equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in applied contexts through experiential course-based teamwork learning. In partnership with course instructors, we offer facilitated in-class workshops in undergraduate engineering courses that provide students with opportunities to improve their teamwork skills while practicing EDI concepts in applied project-based contexts. With a long-term vision, we aim to inspire culture change in the Engineering profession, increasing accessibility, retention, & diverse representation in the field.
Duties:
Support the integration, growth, and sustainability of the E-IDEA Teamwork Initiative’s pedagogical approach, by:
- Facilitating EDI/teamwork skill-building workshops
– Managing project/curricular integration of our workshops with professors & instructors; creating assessment plans to track students’ learning (both short- and long-term)
- Helping the Project Leadership Team connect our pedagogy with Engineering Accreditation requirements
- Helping make resources, tools, and project data more accessible to professors and students via online platforms (in support of professional development and strategies to support individual and collective health & wellbeing)
- Co-developing and delivering training modules for new instructors (to better equip our educators to include EDI and teamwork-skills training into their courses/curricula)
As part of the Project Leadership Team, you will work closely with a small, dynamic, learning-centered team. You will play a key role in supporting the design and evaluation of course-based workshops focused on EDI training and teamwork skill-building – contributing to the growth and development of our community.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Master’s Degree in fields relating to: Education (Curriculum Development/Teaching/Facilitation); Organizational Development & Change; Social Work; Project Management & Evaluation.
- Minimum 2 years work-experience.
- Technical skills and abilities relevant to the primary duties associated with this role.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, willingness to listen and share.
- Communication: Able to communicate ideas clearly (oral and written), responsive and proficient with online communication platforms. French proficiency is an asset.
- Proactive & assertive: Ability to work with a high degree of independence and within a team to initiate and complete work assignments. Can manage working on multiple tasks and setting priorities. Proactively seeks help and support when needed.
- Commitment to learning and self-growth: Demonstrates a natural curiosity. Approaches all situations with a growth mindset, willing to explore, learn and grow in an ever-evolving field.
- Teaching/Facilitation: Experience teaching or facilitating hands-on learning experiences is an asset (both in-person and remotely).
