Research Assistant (Teodoro’s Lab)

Position Summary:

  • Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Conducting of experiments involving viral particles (adenovirus) and viral purification
  • ICP-OES operation and data analysis
  • Use of sterile techniques to maintain various cell lines in culture
  • Use of techniques such as: transfection, infection, qPCR, PCR, Western blotting, fluorescent microscopy, etc
  • Compile and analyze data
  • Keep an updated electronic lab notebook
  • Attend weekly and individual meeting
  • Assist in receiving lab consumables
  • Assist in up keeping the shared lab spaces and laboratory equipment

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Science
  • Completed training for all mandatory McGill certifications, including but not limited to: WHMIS, waste management, BioSafety and safe use of BSC
  • Experience with BSL2 requirements and mammalian cell culture
  • Ability to present data in a concise and comprehensive manner
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, especially in English
  • Ability to reference and understand publications to further project
  • Good time management and organizational skills, must be able to optimize available time
  • Detail oriented

Hourly Salary:

$28.44
