Position Summary:
- Duties include but are not limited to:
- Conducting of experiments involving viral particles (adenovirus) and viral purification
- ICP-OES operation and data analysis
- Use of sterile techniques to maintain various cell lines in culture
- Use of techniques such as: transfection, infection, qPCR, PCR, Western blotting, fluorescent microscopy, etc
- Compile and analyze data
- Keep an updated electronic lab notebook
- Attend weekly and individual meeting
- Assist in receiving lab consumables
- Assist in up keeping the shared lab spaces and laboratory equipment
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Science
- Completed training for all mandatory McGill certifications, including but not limited to: WHMIS, waste management, BioSafety and safe use of BSC
- Experience with BSL2 requirements and mammalian cell culture
- Ability to present data in a concise and comprehensive manner
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, especially in English
- Ability to reference and understand publications to further project
- Good time management and organizational skills, must be able to optimize available time
- Detail oriented
