Research Support Officer – Full Time, 10 week Contract
Located in Nepean, Ontario

MakeWay is a national charity and public foundation with a goal to enable nature and communities to thrive together. We do this by building partnerships, providing solutions, grants, and services for the charitable sector across the country.
We are currently looking for a Research Support Officer to provide high-level, pro-active support to the Director of National Programming in developing a national research strategy to help identify key policy levers that will enable MakeWay to advance its vision and mission. What You’ll Do:
Provide research support to help advance MakeWay’s government relations strategy by undertaking activities such as:
Research information, analyze data and report on findings
Assist in the preparation of briefings, reports, and presentations
Identify potential policy levers for MakeWay to pursue
Monitor government funding opportunities across various levels (i.e. Federal, Provincial/Territorial, Municipal) and regions
Liaise with regional program teams and identify common issue areas that can be supported nationally
Provide administrative support to internal working groups as required
Who You Are:
Adaptable: You are able to manage and prioritize incoming requests, juggle conflicting priorities, and deliver multiple assignments, all while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency
A great communicator: You are able to translate complex information into clear and simple language and have excellent written and oral communication skills
Analytical: You are able to digest information, assess importance and risks, and able to make clear and timely decisions
A team-oriented collaborator: You are self-motivated and comfortable working virtually with colleagues across Canada
Experience You Bring:
Computer literacy in Word, Excel, and cloud-based systems
Strong analytical and communication skills
Currently studying in a related field (e.g. Political Science, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Human Rights And Social Justice, Indigenous Studies, Sociology, Women And Gender Studies, etc.)
Canada Summer Jobs Employment Requirements:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
