Position Purpose Summary
Assigned tasks are to be completed in accordance with the organizations policies, procedures, and standards to maintain a high level of quality, service, cleanliness, and safety while performing said tasks. Crossroads Centre is dedicated to providing a safe, stable, and positive residential setting for individuals in crisis, regardless of cultural and religious diversity.
There are two fixed-term positions available, both ending March 31, 2022.
Position 1: 30 hours per week. Shifts are 3 days per week, 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
Position 2: 40 hours per week. Shifts are 4 days per week, 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Provide support to individuals accessing the warm-up location at Crossroads Centre and ensure that their emotional, psychological, and physical needs are met
– Be familiar with program policies and procedures, and must be able to implement these into daily tasks
– Ensure that the environment of the service is supportive, nurturing, and encouraging for individuals in crisis
– Be aware of all individuals and their activities, and follow through with expectations and health and safety guidelines
– Responsible for ensuring individuals can access after-hours support in an efficient and timely manner by liaising with financial resources and community supports
– Care for individuals accessing the service health needs and seek medical attention in a timely manner
– Read and document in necessary logs/files– all documentation should provide objective information including behaviour, attitude, and concerns regarding all activities, events, and meetings
– Ensure quality presentation of meals and snacks as required on shift, while maintaining a high level of cleanliness of the warm-up area and assisting individuals with nutritional needs
– Cleaning and sanitizing as necessary and ensuring the safety of the property
– Able to communicate in a clear and concise manner with members of the public, residents, staff and professionals while maintaining confidentiality, fairness, and respect
– Remain alert and awake at all times throughout all shifts
– Other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Qualifications:
– Minimum six months experience in a similar or related field
– High school diploma with some post-secondary education is recommended, but equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is considered
Training & Experience:
– First Aid/CPR Certificate
– Food Safe Certificate
– E-Learning (Abuse Prevention & WHIMIS) – to be completed before first shift
– Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector
– Preferred experience working within a residential home setting
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
– Physically able to perform tasks
– Ability to work with hard to handle clients
– Proficient in Microsoft/computer programs
– Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
– Demonstrate the ability to work as a positive team member
– Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high calibre of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner
