Position Purpose Summary:
A Residential Worker “B”- Lead will have all the duties of a Residential Worker “B” with added responsibilities for the training of new staff members as well as performing “On-call” duties in rotation.
This is a full time fixed term position for 8 months. Shifts are 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., and will be scheduled either Wednesday through Sunday, or Saturday through Wednesday.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that staff provide support to residents and ensure that their emotional, psychological, and physical needs are met
- Ensure that the processes and expectations of The Salvation Army are being met.
- Answering the On-Call phone during coverage cycle,, answering questions and assisting on duty staff with decision making, filling short notice staffing gaps by arranging for casual replacements or by attending the shift themselves
- Support both new and existing staff by demonstrating/explaining Policies and Procedures and expected tasks for specific shifts
- Be a conduit between front line staff and management
- Report incidents/issue that require immediate management intervention to them
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:
- High School Diploma with some post-secondary education is recommended, but equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
- First Aid/CPR “C” Certificate
- Food Safe Certificate
Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience within The Salvation Army in a similar or related field
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Ability and willingness to complete and pass a Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector
- Ability and willingness to complete mandatory E-learning courses (Abuse Prevention & OH&S)
- Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
- Physically able to perform tasks
- Ability to work with hard to handle clients
- Proficient in Microsoft/computer programs
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
- Demonstrate the ability to work as a positive team member
- Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high caliber of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner
