SAFETY & TRAINING MANAGER
To be based in New Annan, PEI
Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen potato products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States and around the world. We have state-of-the-art processing plants in New Annan PE, Lethbridge, AB, Wheatley, ON and another in Jamestown, ND, with head offices in Dieppe, NB and sales locations in Toronto, Montreal and Boston.
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Safety and Training Manager will support the development of a Safety-first culture for Cavendish Farms New Annan. The Safety and Training Manager will lead a support staff to assist with the development and implementation of various safety programs and training agendas. Additionally, the role will ensure our compliance with applicable legislation and company standards.
Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- University degree with a concentration in management, a science or safety related field.
- Certified Occupational Health and Safety designation, such as CRSP, CHSO, or equivalent.
- 5 plus years of leadership experience in the safety field.
- Extensive experience in Change Management.
- Project Management experience would be considered an asset.
- An established Health and Safety background with experience developing training programs would be considered an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage team members and other stakeholders.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the New Annan Leadership Team in developing a Safety-First road map.
- Implement processes that will ensure each crew and department have a safety plan for every shift.
- Prioritize the various safety and training projects promoting a Safety-first culture.
- Drive accountability to the agreed upon plans within the New Annan Leadership Team.
- Ensure we are communicating the right things, at the right time, by the right medium.
- Assuring a floor presence from the Safety and Training department.
- Facilitate training associated with new safety procedures and programs.
- Be responsible for the proper safety and training documentation.
- Deliver progress reports and presentations on the various safety projects and training initiatives under way.
