The Sales Associate provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the supervisor in the maintenance of all store operations.
This is a full-time CANADA SUMMER JOBS position – Monday thru Friday, 9:45 am to 5:15 pm for 8 weeks. Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 30 yrs of age.

The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on the condition of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and will be required to provide proof of full vaccination, prior to their employment start date. The requirement to be fully vaccinated is subject to provincial/territorial human rights legislation. If the candidate is unable to vaccinate for a reason protected by the Human Rights Code, a request for accommodation can be submitted and written proof satisfactory to TSA will be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cash handling experience is required. Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, etc.
- Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards
- Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing. Brand awareness would be a definite asset
- Handle the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation – “baling” items in the store
- The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- The successful job applicant will have completed High School/Grade 12.
- Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience in retail sales
- Must provide a Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion is required.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Basic math skills required to calculate discounts and percentages as well as reading skills
- Ability to work independently and participate as an active and responsible team member in a cooperative team environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching and reaching is required.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- Represent the organization in a positive, professional and engaging manner
- Exhibit good listening skills, have strong oral/written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
