Specific responsibilities include:
Team Leadership Responsibility – This role provides leadership, support, and direction to his/ her team and ensures all team members’ efforts are focused on attaining the objectives and goals set out in the strategic Sales Plan. The Sales Manager will review performance measures with each team member, and ensure that individual sales, revenue per mile, and profitability goals & objectives are being met.
Account Management Responsibility – As a key member of the Sales Team, you will have responsibility for account management of key National Accounts, as assigned. The Sales Manager will be responsible to grow and develop relationships with these clients in order to meet Sales Objectives and support the overall organizational objectives. It is also expected the Sales Manager will meet their personal growth target and set an example for other members of the Sales Team by prospecting, cultivating & securing new business in order to meet their personal budget requirement.
Human Resources – Responsible for planning the human resource requirements for the Sales Team. You will determine position requirements and expectations, conduct interviews, hire new staff for the department, and oversee the orientation/ training of new staff in the department. The Sales Manager will manage the performance of their team members by providing ongoing feedback, and direction with a management style that is accessible, involved, and empowering. The Sales Manager will also conduct regular performance reviews for their team members and follow up on any employee performance issues.
Operations & Customer Service – Working with the Operations Management and other key members of the Operations Team, you will ensure that the operational service levels are maintained and provide suggestions on how to enhance service levels in accordance with the strategic plan and KPI measurement standards. The Sales Manager will also be directly involved in the implementation of key growth opportunities for new markets, the expansion of services for new and existing accounts, etc.
External Relations & Travel – Responsible for representing Bison Transport professionally when engaging with customers or when attending events on behalf of Bison Transport. They will also provide guidance to other Bison employees at such events when required. Travel will be required on an ad-hoc basis to meet with sales team members, clients, prospective new recruits, etc.

Management and Leadership skills required.
Transportation industry knowledge and a solid understanding of how goods are transported in North America.
Strong negotiating skills and business acumen.
Able to demonstrate success using strong communication and interpersonal skills.
