Permanent Full Time Position

The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced Senior Building Official for the Inspection Services Division. With a focus on commercial, industrial, institutional, and multi-family residential buildings, this position performs advanced office and field inspection work in enforcing the BC Building Code and municipal bylaws; plans and documents examination and Building Permit processing for the construction, alteration, and repair of buildings; selects the appropriate inspection protocol; and performs field inspection of construction during its progress to determine if the work is being performed in accordance with permitted design and in compliance with the BC Building Code, municipal bylaws and development permits.
 
The ideal candidate will possess considerable knowledge of the B.C. Building Code and municipal bylaws. Requirements include a Degree from a recognized university in engineering or architecture; BOABC Level III Certification; three years directly related experience with codes and standards, municipal bylaws and regulations, construction inspections including two years of supervisory experience and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.   Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
