Qualifications:Essential:
Post-secondary education, preferably at the Masters level, in a related field (e.g. Social Sciences, Public Policy) or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered

Experience researching, developing and evaluating policies and programs

Experience writing a variety of documents and detailed analytical reports for a variety of audiences including (but not limited to): reports, proposals, policy positions and background papers

Strong verbal communication skills

Extensive knowledge of the legislative process for creating, amending and repealing legislation and regulations

Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills

Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism, diplomacy and political acumen

Experience developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Ability to work independently under minimal supervision

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work within tight deadlines in a high pressure, fast paced, change driven environment

Desired:
Experience in analyzing and interpreting financial information to make recommendations and provide objective challenges

Experience leading and managing projects

Duties:
The Senior Policy Analyst is accountable for legislative, policy, program and operational initiatives at both the corporate (Departmental) and program levels by planning and leading complex inter-divisional and inter-jurisdictional assignments. This includes the design and implementation of projects that evaluate the viability, effectiveness and efficiency of existing and proposed legislation, policies, programs and services, and the development of alternative legislation, policies, programs and services. The incumbent is expected to identify financial implications of new legislation and initiatives.
