Sessional Instructor – Faculty of Education (Summer 2021)

The Faculty of Education at the University of Prince Edward Island has openings for a sessional instructor to teach the following course in summer 2021.

ED 3620-99 COMMUNICATION PRACTICES

This course covers both interpersonal and group communication skills necessary for adult learning. It teaches students to express thoughts and ideas in clear, well-defined terms in oral, print, and digital contexts. Emphasis is placed on developing skills in active listening, public speaking, and small group facilitation, as well as in understanding the variables that affect human communication. Participants are encouraged to identify their own communication challenges through study, research, presentation, and self-reflection.

This is a three semester-hour course offered in a hybrid format (including on campus classes) to students in the Certificate of Adult Education and Adult Education focus of the BEd program(s). This course is offered Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:00pm, from July 12 to July 16, 2021.

Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a Masters of Education degree. Successful candidates will normally have school-based experience in a Canadian public K-12 system. For applicants without school-based experience, teaching in other contexts relevant and appropriate to the position will be considered. Where courses are offered on-line using multi-media technologies, applicants will normally be able to demonstrate successful on-line teaching experience. Candidates who do not have previous online teaching experience must be open to and willing to do extra training for this delivery model, and without additional compensation.

In all instances, qualified applicants on the UPEI Sessional Roster of the Faculty of Education will be given priority.

THE OFFERING OF THESE COURSES IS CONDITIONAL PENDING FINAL ENROLMENT NUMBERS. ALL SESSIONAL COURSES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FINAL BUDGETARY AND ADMINISTRATIVE APPROVAL.
