Your role as a part-time instructor at Saskatchewan Polytechnic will be supported through instructional materials and on-going employer provided training. This may include a requisite Adult Teaching and Learning certificate program depending on your employment status in future positions. This initiative will develop our instructors professionally while ensuring a high quality learning experience for all Saskatchewan Polytechnic students.

Job Duties/Qualifications, Skills and Abilities(QSA)

Job Duties
1. Provide instruction in Sociology classes to post secondary students enrolled in the health programs.
2. Manage his/her courses to ensure an optimum learning environment for students.
3. Accommodate students with special learning needs.
4. Pursue professional development opportunities to keep current with industry and educational requirements.
5. Practice good interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Work cooperatively in an interdependent team environment.
7. Prepare for and use appropriate delivery methods for instructional assignments.
8. Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress.
9. Make necessary curriculum adjustments to course content.
10. Attend staff, program and division meetings.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
1. Master’s degree in Sociology and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Two years recent/relevant business/industry experience or post-secondary experience.
3. Effective communication skills (oral and written).
4. Effective interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
5. Effective instructional ability.
6. Ability to arrange, maintain and evaluate resources.
7. Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, MS Office Suite software and the ability to learn and adapt to changing technology.
8. Ability to work as a team member and foster teamwork.
9. Demonstrates valuing diversity.
