Roles and Responsibility:
Overall responsibility

Oversee the Greenhouse Production ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently.

Key areas of responsibility

Provide support and solutions to all members of the Production Department.

Responsible for ensuring all crop management requirements are met; optimize production and quality while minimizing cost.

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining the computerized greenhouse climate and irrigation system; monitor alarm systems.

Responsible for fertilizer recipe and mix, agrochemical use and application and provide input in beneficial biological use; analyze effectiveness.

Determine type and quantity of stock to grow

Plan, organize, direct, and control the cultivation and production of soft fruit

Review and prioritize all crop related jobs; complete and issue work schedule; verify completion.

Obtain measurements and collect samples when necessary.

Collect data on growth, development, quality, etc. for all varieties grown; maintain records.

Analyze crop data to implement successful growing strategies and make variety recommendations.

Establish the environmental conditions required to grow plants and fruit, and design planting and care schedules accordingly

Ensure preventative maintenance is completed on climate/irrigation computers, and all other tools required for the growing process.

Review production needs and opportunities for improvement.

Oversee and monitor the labour tracking system for the greenhouse; verifying accuracy.

Supervise staff in planting and transplanting

Responsible for all materials such as fertilizer, cultivation equipment and other greenhouse related accessories.

Maintain records on climate, cultivation, production and quality.

Maintain and control inventory of equipment, tools, supplies and fertilizer/agrochemicals used by the Production Department, including all required documentation and records.

Maintain daily communication with other necessary departments, providing them with daily/weekly production estimates, quality updates, plant conditions, etc.

Scheduled on-call duties.

Assist in recommendations to ensure all Migrant Worker requirements are determined and met.

Follow all guidelines, terms and conditions related to all Foreign Worker Programs and the respective consulates and liaisons.

Manage staff, oversee training and set work schedules.

Ensure that the Production Department conforms to all Food Safety, Quality Management System and Health & Safety requirements.

Attendance and participation in all required meetings.

Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.

Maintain confidentiality regarding all projects, property and intellectual property of the company.

Report all discrepancies and breaches of any and all company procedures, protocols and integrity.

Ensure that all functions conform to all Food Safety, Quality Management System and Health and Safety requirements.

Obey all general job training instructions, safe work practices and procedures.

Skills (sets) Required: (include education & experience):
College/University Degree or Equivalent through experience

3 – 5 years relevant experience

Leadership skills, ability to be objective

Organizational and problem-solving skills

Knowledge and adaptability with various computer programs (Word, Excel, e-mail, etc.)

Growers Pesticide Safety Certification

Valid Drivers License

Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team

Flexible, Reliable
