        Responsibilities
        
                        Position Purpose Summary:
Boundless Vancouver Community Ministries organizes The Salvation Army Boundless Vancouver Christmas Toy Shop for children and families. The Christmas Volunteer & Donation Coordinator works with our Boundless Vancouver team to organize our volunteers and coordinate donations for The Christmas Toy Shop and the Christmas Luncheon.
BASIC FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Coordination: 

Works in conjunction with and in support of The Christmas Toy Shop by identifying and promoting volunteer opportunities
Recruit, screen, register & orient appropriate volunteers to fill positions
Process necessary paperwork, including Criminal Record Checks and volunteer agreement packages
Deploy volunteers to positions relevant to their interests and skills
Help orientate and supervise volunteers while they are deployed to their positions
Keep thorough records of volunteer information and hours of service for statistical purposes

Donation Coordination: 

Work in conjunction with and in support of the Christmas campaigns, identifying the financial and in-kind donation needs for Christmas distribution
Solicit financial and in-kind donations and correspond in a timely manner with individuals and corporate donors in the community; organize toy drives with companies and organizations in the community
Coordinate drop-off and pick up schedule with donors and driver(s)
Help coordinate with divisional Public Relations team for the Toy Mountain event
Relay donated items to the appropriate personnel for proper storage and distribution
Keep thorough records of donor information and donated items/amounts & maintain a positive relationship with our donors
Perform other duties as assigned

 
                    
                

        Qualifications
        
                        Education/Certifications:

Post-secondary education and work experience in fund-raising, donor relations, public relations

Experience:

One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience, including experience working in customer service related fields

Required Skills/Knowledge:

Excellent organizational skills
Superior relationship building skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels in a confident, collaborative and professional manner
Proven ability to multitask
Be able to work independently; demonstrated self-starter and team player
Excellent verbal communication skills in person and on the phone
Excellent written communication skills
Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Ability to learn new software quickly and teach others
Be able to lift up to 30 lbs

 
PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities: 

Valid BC Driver’s License
Background check consent
A clear vulnerable sector screening
A clean drivers’ abstract
Completion of online Armatus Abuse Prevention Training and required Health and Safety training

Position Purpose Summary

The Store Clerk/Warehouse Worker provides service to customers, sorts incoming products, and assists the supervisor in the maintenance of all store operations. They assist in the efficient and effective reclamation, processing or distribution of warehouse goods.

This is a permanent full time position at 32 hours per week. Shifts are Tuesday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Store Operations

  • Contributes to meeting store sales budgets by maintaining customer service standards
  • Implements store layout plans to attract customers including window displays and merchandise displays
  • Maintains an attractive organized appearance of the store, tidy up and restock shelves, clean, sweep, dust and mop as necessary
  • Replenishes inventory levels based on Supervisor’s directions
  • Contributes to the control of inventory by retrieving, sorting, and pricing as per directions
  • Protects the store from inventory shrinkage by close visual monitoring
  • Takes responsibility for the accurate completion of all customer transactions including visa, debit, etc.

Warehouse Operations

  • Processes raw materials by unloading, sorting, packing, storing, loading and baling the donations; protects the integrity of the donations
  • Selects donations for store distribution meeting established standards of quality, and distinguishes between discarded and good quality merchandise according to company standards
  • Meets assigned daily targets; counts, weighs and records incoming and outgoing donations
  • May operate warehouse equipment such as baler, compactor, forklift and conveyor
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Health & Safety

  • Complies with all safety procedures and in/outdoor tidy maintenance guidelines
  • Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits and clean spillage.)
  • Handles the merchandise in a safe and organized manner; assist in stock rotation – “baling” items in the store.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education Level Attained:

  • The successful job applicant will have completed High School (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable).

Minimum Prior Related Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:

  • Minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience, including life skills.
  • Experience with warehouse processing or goods distribution and knowledge of lifting guidelines are an asset.
  • Cash handling experience is required.
  • Brand awareness would be an asset.
  • Basic math skills required to calculate discounts and percentages, and reading skills.
  • Knowledge and experience using a cash register, debit machine and/or credit card processing is a definite asset.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

Physical Effort/Dexterity Required:

  • The performance of the job requires continuously standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing, pulling, lifting, kneeling and entering data for transactions.
  • The ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds on a regular basis.

Concentration Required:

The performance of the job requires visual monitoring and frequently working with numbers.
