Student Screener / Cleaner
Contract Position, 0.6 FTE to 1.0 FTE (21 to 35 hours/week)
Parkdale Queen West Community Health Centre (Parkdale Queen West CHC) is a dynamic,
community-based health care organization serving mid-west downtown Toronto. Offering a broad range
of services, including primary health care, dental care, harm reduction, health promotion, counselling, and
community development programming, we are also committed to serving people who face barriers to
health care, and we strive to reduce these barriers. PQWCHC is a multi-sited organization.
General Responsibilities:
During this time of COVID, the Student Screener/Cleaner position at PQWCHC serves a dual purpose of
screening clients for entrance to the centre using the established screening tool, as well as assisting with
cleaning after clients leave the building. The Student Screener/cleaner will provide clients with masks,
instruct them on how to properly don (put on) and wear the mask, require them to hand sanitize, track the
number of people entering the building and the purpose of their visit, and periodically clean high-touch
surfaces in the lobby area. When not performing the screening function, the screeners/cleaners will be
placed in the clinical area and be responsible for cleaning the examination rooms after clients leave, as
well as cleaning the high touch surfaces in the waiting room.
The successful candidates will have a high school diploma and be currently enrolled in an undergraduate,
graduate or health professional program. Strong communication skills and excellent customer service
stills are required. Volunteer experience in health care is an asset, as is some experience/ with or
knowledge of harm reduction, homelessness, and vulnerable populations. Please include in the cover

Compensation: $20/hour
