Your opportunity:
Working as part of a collaborative team, the Student Services Assistant provides friendly, knowledgeable, and timely service. Together with the teamin the Registrar’s Office, the Student Services Assistant provides front-line support and creates a welcoming environment for a diverse group of prospective and current students.
As a member of the New College Registrar’s Office, the Student Services Assistant will be committed to an equity that recognizes, supports, and responds to the diverse histories, lived and marginalized experiences of students and many communities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responding to enquiries within the defined scope of the role and redirecting as appropriate
- Scheduling appointments for prospective students, applicants, and current students to address individual needs
- Providing detailed information on processes, policies and procedures, and ensuring that the services offered address the diverse needs of prospective and current student populations
- Reviewing and assessing student records to determine academic standing and informing students of changes
- Providing detailed information regarding financial aid issues
- Disseminating program materials to prospective students and applicants
- Troubleshooting and resolving routine issues
- Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two (2) years’ of recent and related experience providing front-line registrarial student services support to a diverse student population in a post-secondary environment.
- Experience providing academic program information and working with prospective and undergraduate students.
- Experience reviewing requests and screening students for academic advising or short-term counselling appointments.
- Experience maintaining, identifying, and resolving anomalies with student records.
- Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), ROSI/ACORN, and Degree Explorer.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent ability to prioritize and adapt to ongoing changes inpriorities.
- Demonstrated strong student service orientation and experience fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in a post-secondary environment.
Assets (Nonessential):
- Knowledge of New College.
- Knowledge and experience with policies and procedures at the Faculty of Arts and Science.
- Experience providing financial aid and student awards/scholarships information, and guiding prospective and undergraduate students in completingapplications.
- Experience and ability to analyze administrative processes and procedures, and passionate about creating equitable and inclusive programs and services for students.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:
USW Pay Band 09 – $58,242 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $74,482. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
