Supervisor VI

Duties:
Supervises, trains, directs and evaluates staff engaged in winter maintenance of streets and sidewalks in the Roadways Section on a daily basis.

Ensures that work activities are performed in accordance with approved standards, specifications and activity guidelines (methods). Assists with the development or improvement of standards and specifications as required.

Ensures that work performed meets all service levels.

Ensures that work activities are performed in accordance with the Corporate Safety Policy and Provincial OH&S Regulations.

Maintains comprehensive manual and computerized records of programs and monitors progress on a daily basis.

Ensures that daily reports and time sheets, corporate leave forms, staff injury investigation reports and vehicle/equipment accident reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Enforces all City policies with their staff. Examples include safety, hours of work and anti-harassment policies.

Prepares weekly schedules based on work requirements and available resources.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Grade 12 education.

Three years’ supervisory experience, including one year’s related operational experience.

Possession of a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid first aid certificate.

Successful completion of, or ability to complete successfully, recognized supervisory courses.

Considerable knowledge of current methods, technical specifications and work practices related to the position.

Knowledge of related corporate safety policies and regulations, bylaws, standards and specifications.

Knowledge of related engineering terminology and techniques.

Knowledge of sanding operations and sanding priority system.

Demonstrated ability to learn and apply the technical skills required for this position.

Ability to operate and understand technical monitoring equipment.

Ability to compile data in a comprehensive manner.

Ability to plan, assign and supervise the work of staff.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public, contractors and civic employees.

Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

Physical ability to perform the assigned duties.

Demonstrated leadership skills.

Skill in the care and use of office and filed equipment (e.g. computers and field dataloggers).

Hours:
Shift work and weekend work are involved.

Salary:
$33.89 per hour (2020 Rates)
