Required Qualifications :
Master’s degree in English Literature or a comparable discipline. Comparable disciplines include but are not limited to: Comparative Literature, specialized literatures, literatures in other languages, Classics, Cultural Studies; OR Doctoral degree in English Literature or a comparable discipline (see above); OR Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Master’s degree in a related discipline. Related disciplines include but are not limited to: Applied Linguistics, Journalism, English Education, Creative Writing, Communications, Media Studies. Teaching experience an asset. Important assets include: – Pedagogical training; – Teaching experience, especially in: – CEGEP or high school – ESL/EFL, and/or – diverse and/or marginalized communities; – Other leadership experience, especially with youth; – Knowledge of the CEGEP system; – Knowledge of French; – Knowledge of other languages; – Academic, journalistic and/or creative publications (including conference papers); – A strong desire to contribute actively to department life; and – Sensitivity, training, research interests and personal experience that provide both support and modelling for the diversity of our student population.
